Supporting adults in creating meaningful change through compassionate, collaborative, and evidence-based care.

Hi, I'm Kara, founder of Empower Therapy and Training. I'm glad you're here.

I became a therapist because I believe people deserve a space where they don't have to prove their worth before they're met with compassion.

Over the past 20 years I've had the privilege of supporting people of all walks of life through anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, life transitions, grief, and many of the complexities that come with being human.

Whether you're feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or simply looking for a different way forward, my hope is that you'll leave each session feeling understood, empowered, and more connected to yourself.

My Approach

I believe meaningful change begins when people feel safe enough to be themselves—not just the parts they believe others will accept, but all of who they are.

Life can leave us disconnected from ourselves through stress, trauma, relationships, loss, or simply trying to meet everyone's expectations. Therapy offers an opportunity to pause, reflect, and reconnect with what matters most.

My role is to walk alongside you as you better understand yourself, build on your strengths, and take meaningful next steps that align with the life you want to create.

Beyond The Office

Outside of therapy, you'll usually find me spending time with my family, staying active, or enjoying the outdoors. Whether it's strength training, kickboxing, yoga, or simply getting outside for a walk, movement has always been an important part of how I care for my own well-being and stay connected to myself.

I'm naturally curious and believe growth is a lifelong process. I enjoy learning, exploring new ideas, and challenging myself both personally and professionally. I also value meaningful relationships, genuine conversations, and the people in my life who know me well enough to appreciate every side of me—from the quiet observer to the occasional goof.

Outside the therapy room, I'm still doing the same work I encourage my clients to do: staying curious, continuing to grow, nurturing meaningful relationships, and making time for the things that keep me grounded. I don't believe growth has a finish line, and I think that's one of the most hopeful parts of being human.
